random thoughts by Thing One

We are talking about the family where Thing One used to go for day care when I worked. They have moved and randomly he wonders if they remember him. I assure him that they do (they really do). And then he started talking about these light-up Power Ranger toys that they had and liked to play with, but he says,
I think they sold them at their garage sale. Or maybe they still have them. Or I bet they threw them away. But I remember the store where we got them. Can we go there Mom?
I say: Oh you remember the store?
Thing One: Yeah... it's oh (and at this point, the hand is up to the chin as he is in thought) about 4 miles from here. How far is 4 miles?
Me: About out to school.
Thing One: Oh no, well then it's farther than that. The store is by the grocery store and it's kind of white-ish and yellow-ish and yeah. I bet them have them, can we go?

Normally I would just write this off. But now I am curious. Do I go to the town he is talking about and try to find the white-ish/yellow-ish store and see if they really do have these toys? This all goes back to when he was wee tiny and started talking. The kid started talking full sentences at an amazingly early age. 13 months or something like that - no joke. Anyway, he had this weird ESP-like tendency to predict the future. He'd randomly say, the next car that is coming is yellow... and sure enough, a few miles down the road, the next car that we would pass was YELLOW. It freaked me out at times.
Another example was when he wanted a storm trooper outfit. He wanted to go to the store in the cities and look for one. He says to me, don't worry, it will be there, next to the Spiderman and the Blahdeblah costumes (at this point I no longer remember).
So I call Target to inquire and they so no, try Paper Warehouse. So I go to Paper Warehouse one late summer day and say, do you have any costumes, and they point to this back room where the Halloween stuff is just starting to get unboxed and sure enough on a display wall in the back NEXT to the Spiderman and other costume he named is the STORM TROOPER COSTUME!! (ok, so it's REALLY a Clone Trooper costume, but really... he was 2 at the time and didn't know/care) and NO other costumes were out except those. Whoa. Freaky, huh?

So yeah, I just might drive around tomorrow and look for a white/yellow storefront, because you never know with Thing One...
(now if I could just get him to pick lottery numbers)
