WE DID IT!

Yay for us! We did it!
I ran the marathon with my stepdaughter Katie for her first marathon and my friend Shelly, who is the crazy one who talked me into doing this in the first place. Shelly and I ran the TC together back in '95, so it's been awhile folks. It felt great! There were so many people and poor Mark and the kids could not find us in the swarms of people running and I couldn't find them in the swarms of people there to cheer us on... Eventually we did find each other after the water stop at mile 21 and I was never so happy to see my beloved and my kids! Quick kisses and we were off again... If you ever need an ego boost, run a marathon. The thousands of people cheering for you, volunteering for you, smiling at you... it works.

And I'm telling ya, I'm so grateful they relaxed the rules and allowed MP3 players for runners this year. The Black Eyed Peas rocked for me, as did the Beastie Boys and even a little Okee Dokee Brothers (Kiddo) made my heart smile. Kiddo is the slowest song on my playlist, but it makes me think of my kids and that fills my heart with loads of love (thanks Joe & Justin). I ended on I Like to Move It Move It, which is another huge smile for me, because if you've seen this video, well, then you know why. K even has the gyrating down to that song now.

But for those of you interested in seeing how the whole run went, view the link below. I'm pretty sure the major slow downs were a mile 16 long walk through the water stop and mile 22 involved the same. Otherwise, I'm pretty proud of the fact that I could still kick it at the end, some of my fastest splits of the day.

Wow. A long way from bed rest in April-June 2008. So so so grateful to be able to kiss my family, listen to music and run with my amazing Katie.

I am blessed.
