lots o thoughts

Lying awake in bed last night at about 2 a.m., after nursing K back to sleep and getting Thing One into dry jammies (sorry to publicize that honey bun), I had difficulty falling back asleep.

Rare. That is SUCH a rare event.

I usually have no problem falling back asleep and pride myself on it. Lots of thoughts went through my mind... like what to post on this blog, the need to photoshop a new pic for the header, clients and therapy, why some aren't IN therapy, bed rest, K and her doc appt., Thing Two and his meltdowns, minor to dos, major to dos, along with all sorts of stories that have occurred over the past few days. Eventually after quite a few Hail Mary's (it really does work), I fell back to sleep.

We've had loads of fun these past few days (pics to follow in another post) - spending time at a friend's lake place, going to a carnival, playing outside, making good meals, and listening to children laugh, giggle, yell, scream, tantrum, whine, threaten, cry, and talk and talk and talk, and babble babble babble. Lots of sounds that are my life.

I look around the floors and counters of my marvelous home and they are full of what is now my life. For example (and I should take pictures, the clutter really needs to be seen to be appreciated), I have, and this is not an all-inclusive list:
on the kitchen counters: recycling that needs to be taken out, the video camera, baby bottles, breast pump accessories, empty beer bottles (thanks Casey for the brew), a half-eaten pan of brownies, the remainder blender contents of a recently made smoothie, coffee, sugar, bottles of wine, Legos, Legos and more Legos, glass of water, catalogs, a pacifier, post-it notes, the checkbook, the ladder that once belonged to a fire truck, did I say more Legos? A cell phone, today's mail, and last week's, the coffee maker, the toaster, the blender, the mixer, bowls of fruit and tomatoes and garlic, dish soap, colored pencils, placemats, a candle, used kleenex, medicine, etc.
on the kitchen floor: a baseball glove, a book, dog hair (ad nauseum), a rubber shark, a digital camera (the kids'), a Caterpillar front loader (toy that is), a push toy/ride/walker thingy, and Legos! (which should NOT be there - crawling baby and all).
on the living room floor: a dog and his hair, Duplos, cars, trucks, baby toys, the Omnitrix, books, stuffed animals, balls, pillows, one Batman glove, action figures, empty totes, Happy Meal toys, oh golly I could go on forever.

I expect my house and my brain to become cleaner in about 17 years.

But then it will be a lonely place to be.
