K likes to play with "guys."
That's what she calls him. Over the course of the past year, this has become her favored way of play. Hence the major doll house that we purchased for Christmas that is more furnished than my own home, but I digress...
Allow me to define "guys." Obviously, there are dollies. Not big, hold-in-your-arms dollies. But little, hold-in-your-hands dollies. There is the Mommy, Daddy, Baby, Brother, etc. We also have heard them called Sister, Cousin, Grammy, etc. The names/roles change daily and are usually gender spot-on.
But "guys" can also be: forks, spoons, knives; markers; crayons; TinkerToys; Lego minifigures or just Legos; Duplos (bigger, preschool Legos for those not in the know out there); action figures; blocks; pencils; popsicle sticks; french fries; apple slices; rocks; her fingers/my fingers; pieces of lint - ok, now I'm exaggerating... but you get the point. If she can hold it in her hand, or if it is her hand, it has potential of being a "guy." I often don't know that she is playing with guys and I'll hear her shout, "Mommy!" and when I look and respond, I get a "NOT YOU!"
Oh. I see. Your pink marker "Mommy" is talking to the blue crayon "son." Got it.
It's darn sweet to listen to and watch. Pure imaginative play at heart. Mark has attempted many times to get this on video but has difficulty going unnoticed by K. But I'll try to get some up on the blog.
It's one of the many, many ways my children endear themselves to my heart and likely one of the many I'll forget over the years by the time they are 28, 25 or 21 as I'll be too old and have too much crammed into my small brain.
But I hope I remember.
Because it will be as dear to my heart as Sheevie Sheevie Bo Sheevie Sheevie Sheevie is to a dad and daughter I know.
