Baseball season has started (well, actually it started a month ago). With Mark coaching and Luke playing, our afternoons, evenings and weekends are pretty much booked until June - and likely throughout the summer too.Good thing I love baseball.
So I pack up the kids and all the stuff I/they may possibly need in a day - clothes for all kinds of weather, diapers, wipes, snacks, toys, transporting devices (stroller, BabyBjorn), camera (which usually sits in its bag), pacifier!, movies, music for the drive, snacks, water, hats, sippy cups, coffee for me, did I mention snacks?
Yeah, so it's a lot, needless to say, and I'm sure I overpack and my kids have gotten spoiled because I do bring everything 'cept the kitchen sink (though I have wipes) and they are usually left to want for nothing.
Mom do you have my Lego ship I made this morning?
Yup.
Mom, do you have Ritz crackers and cheese?
Yup.
Mom do you have another pair of socks, these are wet.
Yup.
Mom, do you have the book called (insert random title here)?
Yup.
Pretty ridiculous. But I'm a bit OCD that way. It helps my anxiety stay at a lower level, so even if it means I'm packing up an hour before and unpacking an hour after we get home, so be it. It's worth it to me.
Best part of it all, watching baseball. I like to watch Mark coach, because I know him so well I can imagine what he's thinking and what sign he'll give, etc. I would be a dangerous resource for the opposing team. I like to talk about the game later and check out my understanding later. Did soandso miss that call? Was that a hit and run? Why didn't switch pitchers sooner? Etc. You get the drift. And I LOVE to watch Luke. This kid is a natural athlete (and yes, you may think I'm bragging, and maybe I am, but I'm not because my genes have nothing to do with it) he is so fun to watch. I hope he continues to enjoy playing baseball because he's so good at it.
And I made a beautiful connection at one of his games the other day. A dad of one of Luke's teammates takes pictures and posts them on his website and allowed me to download whatever I wanted. Yee haw! No worries now if I forget the camera.
Below are some of what we got to see the other day. And we're off today to more games. Pray for sun! (and pray for Grandpa Bob who is not feeling great - he is on our minds today too)
Mark coaching.
Luke at bat.
